Telehealth
A health visit using video, phone, or written messages online.
Live, or read later?
A live visit means you and the person treating you speak during the same call. In a message-based visit, you send information and that person reads it later.
Find out who reads your messages and what their role is: doctor, nurse, or another job. Ask how both of you can raise questions before care starts.
A form is only part of the picture
That guidance was checked on September 26, 2026. It rejects care chosen solely from an unchanging form when that form cannot collect enough health information.
A form may be acceptable when it adapts to your answers and lets the person providing care ask further questions to learn enough about your health.
As of September 26, 2026, states have different rules about what must happen before someone can treat you online.
How do we ask each other questions?
Ask whether you will talk during the same call or exchange messages later. Ask how you can answer more questions and reach the person treating you afterward.
